Format of Presentations
Abstract Submission is closed.
Abstracts have been submitted for the following four types of presentations:
1. Oral presentation (to be grouped into thematic sessions)
2. Poster presentation (to be grouped into thematic sessions)
3. Symposium
4. Poster workshop
Oral presentations are reports of empirical studies presented by the primary researcher. All research must be complete upon submission for consideration. Depending on a total number and types of submissions, upon review and acceptance of proposals, the program co-chairs may designate some research papers as poster presentations. The timing is normally 15-20 minutes for presentation, then 5-10 minutes for questions from the audience. A paper submitted independently will be thematically grouped by the Scientific Committee to form a thematic session. Scientific Committee will allocate a chairperson to help with timing and discussion.
Requirements:
- a paper is proposed and submitted by one person;
- the number of co-authors is unlimited;
- the proposer must indicate on the abstract submission form which of the named authors will be presenting the paper. All those attending must register for the Conference;
- the proposer is responsible for communicating with any co-authors and with the EARA 2010 Conference Secretariat about the proposal.
Poster presentation. Individual posters are in a format that allows for extended discussion of the presentation with the author. Posters are recommended when the contribution is strongly data-based and therefore particularly suited for graphic or visual presentation. Individual posters will also be grouped into thematically more or less homogeneous poster sessions by the Scientific Committee. Posters presenting original work will be scheduled in a special time slots. Interactive sessions will last 90 minutes during which time the paper is displayed and the author is present. Posters will be thematically grouped for presentation. On acceptance of the proposal, information will be provided by the Conference Secretariat on the size of the display and how to mount it.
Requirements:
- a poster, which displays graphical material, is submitted by one person;
- the number of co-authors is unlimited;
- all research must be complete upon submission for consideration;
- the proposer must indicate on the abstract submission form which of the named authors will be presenting the poster. All those attending must register for the Conference;
- the proposer is responsible for communicating with any co-authors and with the EARA 2010 Conference Secretariat about the proposal.
Symposia are focused panel discussions and/or formal paper presentations in which participants present their views about a common topic or theme. A symposium normally lasts 105 minutes. Each paper will normally be allocated 15-20 minutes, depending on the number of contributions in that symposium. There will be 10-15 minutes allocated for discussant. The convener of the symposium is responsible for submitting the cover abstract of the symposium and all contributing papers. The convener can also be the first author in one of the contributing papers. When submitting other contributing papers for the symposium, he must indicate which of the named authors will be presenting the paper. All those attending must register for the Conference.
Requirements:
- a symposium consists of up to 5 (minimum 3) linked papers chosen to demonstrate a range of perspectives or variety of approaches;
- contributions should stem from different research groups;
- the convener of the symposium is supposed to organize a group of researchers;
- the convener submits the cover abstract, delineating the topic, summarizing conceptual issues, and integrating the findings of the participating papers;
- the convener also submits all other contributing abstracts on behalf of the authors. For each paper, the convener must indicate its title and author(s);
- the number of co-authors is unlimited;
- the EARA 2010 Conference Secretariat will not send for review any proposals with missing information. Nor will it match any single paper to symposium;
- the convener who will chair the session, and a discussant (if applicable) who will offer a critique of the symposium as a whole, should also be named on the abstract submission form;
- the convener must indicate on the abstract submission form which of the named authors will be presenting each paper. All those attending must register for the Conference;
- the convener is responsible for communicating with all contributors and with the EARA 2010 Conference Secretariat about the proposal.
Poster workshops are similar to symposia. They consist of up to 10 posters (minimum 4) organized around a central topic. Part of the scheduled time for a poster workshop is used to view posters and speak with presenters individually. The rest of the time follows the usual symposium format with discussion of the findings in front of a seated audience.
Requirements:
- poster workshop consists of minimum four linked papers chosen to demonstrate a range of perspectives or variety of approaches;
- contributions should stem from different research groups;
- all research must be complete upon submission for consideration ;
- the convener must indicate on the abstract submission form which of the named authors will be presenting the poster. All those attending must register for the Conference;
- the convener submits the cover abstract of the workshop, delineating the topic, summarizing conceptual issues, and integrating the findings of the participating papers;
- the convener also submits all other contributing posters on behalf of the authors. For each paper, the convener must indicate its title and author(s);
- the number of co-authors is unlimited;
- the convener is responsible for communicating with any co-authors and with the EARA 2010 Conference Secretariat about the proposal;
- the convener who will chair the session, and a discussant (if applicable) who will offer a critique of the poster workshop as a whole, should also be named on the abstract submission form;
- the EARA 2010 Conference Secretariat will not send for review any proposals with missing information. Nor will it match any single paper to poster workshop.
Multiple submissions:
Please be aware of the fact that only one person can be the presenter, and no one can present more than one paper at the Conference. However, he/she can be a co-author of other abstracts, or a convener, chair or a discussant of Symposium or Poster Workshop. For example, you may submit a symposium and have a talk within this symposium. Alternatively, you could submit a symposium without contributing a talk to it, but having a poster in one of the poster sessions, or you could be the first author of an individual presentation and convener of a Poster Workshop etc.
Abstracts are limited to 300 words plain text, i.e., they may not include tables and figures.
Notification of acceptance / rejection will be e-mailed by January 30th, 2010 (contact Conference Secretariat if you have not received your notification by e-mail). The corresponding autho will receive all correspondence concerning the abstract. The corresponding author is responsible for informing all authors of the status of the abstract.
